Who we are

Safaro Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Lakeside-6, Pokhara, is responsible for the personal information described here. We handle it under Nepal's Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) and its regulations. Questions go to privacy@safaro.travel.

Information we collect

When you book through Safaro, we collect what is needed to issue the booking, process ACAP and TIMS conservation permits and coordinate transfers on the ground:

  • Contact details: your name, email, and phone or WhatsApp number.
  • Booking details: dates, number of guests, special requests and messages with partners.
  • Permit details, for treks only: passport name and number, nationality, date of birth, a passport photo, travel insurance details and an emergency contact, as required for ACAP and TIMS.
  • Payment records: the amount, method and transaction reference. Card numbers go directly to our payment providers; we never see or store them.
  • Technical data: basic device and usage information that keeps the site secure and working.

How we use it

  • To create and manage your bookings, and send confirmations and reminders.
  • To apply for permits on your behalf when you book a trek.
  • To help you on the trip, including in an emergency, by contacting your host, guide or insurer.
  • To prevent fraud, verify partners and keep reviews tied to real bookings.
  • To improve Safaro, using aggregated data that does not identify you.

We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We do not sell traveller information to data brokers or anyone else. We share only what each party needs:

  • The partner you book with gets your name, contact details and booking details.
  • Permit authorities, the Nepal Tourism Board and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, get your permit details when your guide applies for ACAP and TIMS.
  • Payment providers such as eSewa, Khalti and our card processor handle your payment.
  • Emergency services and insurers, when it is needed to protect your safety.
  • Authorities, when Nepali law requires it.

Payments and data security

Payment information is encrypted and processed directly by PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to staff who need it to help you, and passport details are visible only to the team handling your permits.

Data stored on your device

Safaro keeps your saved places, trip plan, recent bookings and sign-in state in your browser's local storage, so they load instantly on this device. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

  • Passport details and photos for permits: deleted 90 days after your trek ends.
  • Messages with partners and support: kept for two years, then deleted.
  • Booking and payment records: kept for as long as Nepali tax and accounting law requires.
  • Account details: kept until you delete your account.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also withdraw consent to marketing at any time.

Email privacy@safaro.travel from the address on your account, or use our contact form. We reply within 30 days. Some records, such as payments, may need to be kept for legal reasons even after you delete your account; we will tell you if so.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you before it applies.
